TASNEE Sponsors a Workshop about Polymers and Plasticizers Innovations
TASNEE sponsored, in collaboration with the Research Canter at King Fahad University for Petroleum and Minerals, a workshop entitled " Latest developments and innovations in the polymers and plasticizers" which took place during the period 14-15 October 2008. The Workshop approached many matters relating the local and international petrochemicals industry, through some valuable scientific lectures which covered the polymers industry, its present and future as a strategic industry, in collaboration with local and international experts and consultants and analysts from Holland, Finland, South Korea, Czech Republic, Spain, Germany, Brazil and Switzerland.
Engineer Mohammed Allaboun, president of the ROWAD National Plastic Company, one of TASNEE affiliates, was the main speaker at the workshop. In his statement to the participants he said" the Middle East countries are the world largest producers of polyolefins. Presently, the GCC countries produce about 10% of the total world ethylene, which is the heart of the petrochemicals industry". He expected that the GCC investments in this industry shall jump to about 80 billion dollar by 2020, focusing on the importance of support of the national industry which is steadily growing, and he expects that it will account for 20% of the GDP by 2020.
Allaboun highly praised the role played by Tasnee as a main sponsor of the workshop and its incessant efforts towards enriching of the scientific research, and enhancing of the Kingdom image as a major producer of the polyolivinates, which is a main stream of the industrial sector and basic item of diversified applications. He also reiterated that Tasnee is always insisting on exercising of its social responsibility, and it deeply believes that it is necessary for the private sector to support the scientific research projects at the universities to that to reinforce communication between the universities and the industry through attracting of local and international experts, who have an extensive experience in many scientific research fields.
