LD Polyethylene is produced with a density ranging from 0.910 and 0.940g/cm3. It is characterized with its low tensile strength and high ductility which makes it ideal for production of plastic bags and wrapping films. The Middle East witnessed a considerable increase in the production capacity which witnessed an annual growth rate of 6.5% for the period 2000 to 2005, and it is expected that this increase shall double. The Middle East region is the major exporter of the low density polyethylene. It is expected that production of this material shall grow in Asia and China, which stood at 4.2 million ton for the year 2005, and demand for this material is increasing in India.
